Legal insurance

Legal insurance is offered by various insurers for individuals and businesses.

The product has two service components:

  1. Legal assistance, which provides legal information

  2. Legal expense insurance, which lets you hire a lawyer when pursuing legal action

The insurance products can include one or other option, or both.

Who sells it?

Legal expense insurance is generally included in another insurance product, either under your auto insurance or home insurance policy. To purchase legal expense insurance, contact your broker or insurer to discuss which coverage is best adapted to your needs.

Two terms, two realities

While legal assistance only covers information provided by phone, legal expense insurance lets you hire a lawyer to advise you, take legal action and represent you in court, if necessary. Make sure you have the right product!

Examples of coverage:

  • Property law

Fields normally not included:

  • Criminal law
  • Penal law
